Video Games- Old and New
Starcraft II was released in 2010. Just like the original Starcraft, Starcraft 2 sold a bunch of copies in the first few months alone. However, Unlike Starcraft 1, Starcraft 2 only has 1 campaign but it is a bit longer than the original Starcraft's entire campaign. Starcraft 2 first takes place in a bar, following Jim Raynor. Because he quit Mengsk's army, he has been lowered down to a mercenary working for the Moebius Foundation. Raynor uses his mercenaries to complete missions and their ultimate goal is to revolt against Mengsk. Soon Raynor gets up to his ship led by his second in command: Matthew Horner. Players will complete missions, and during those missions try to complete bonus objectives for "research" which allows the player to get special upgrades for their base. The player can also purchase upgrades for unlocked units with credits that are received after missions. With almost every mission you will unlock a new unit for you to use. The game also has some special missions in which you control a leader or hero unit and have special abilities to use against your foes. As the player progress through the story Raynor will meet Zertaul on his ship. Zeratul will give Raynor a crystal that "unlocks" his memories. If the player uses the crystal he unlocks 3 missions in which the player controls the Protoss. Raynor will see what Zertaul did in the past, just recently, and what will happen if Raynor kills Kerrigan, the death of all the Protoss and probably the Terran. Because of this time warp Raynor thinks over his attack on the Zerg. However, soon a Dominion fleet comes over near Raynor's ship. The crew, thinking this is an attack, gears up and boards the ship killing all of its guards. However, Raynor finds out that it is not Mengsk commanding the ship, but his son who wants to help Raynor. Raynor agrees to his help and together they manage to land on Planet Char, the Zerg home world and manage to take it over and change Kerrigan back with the power of the Artifact that the Moebius Foundation has been collecting. When Raynor finally rescues Kerrigan though, his long lost friend, Tychus turns on him and tries to kill Kerrigan. Raynor is too fast for him however, and pulls out his pistol and shoots and probably kills Tychus. Not only does the game have an exciting Campaign, the Multiplayer is also great receiving constant patches and a bunch of people trying new strategies. Some people on YouTube actually commentate on Starcraft replays for their job. The game really has no big problems except probably the fact that you need a really good computer to run it, and sometimes the game will actually crash your computer. Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty get a 9.5/10. However, remember these words: " When you buy Starcraft II, you don't just get Starcraft II, you get everything that is coming with Starcraft II. " Blizzard is making new maps and an expansion pack called Heart of the Swarm, where it looks like the player will control the Zerg. Blizzard is also making minigames for casual players to play, and trying to make every unit balanced in its on way.
