Video Games- Old and New

                                            The Fallout Series

The Fallout series is a series of games in which the player has the elements of a RPG but also some of a survival horror. The most recent fallout games are Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, which will be the main focus in this thread. Both games were released for the PS3 and Xbox 360 and even the PC. In the Fallout games, players will start off with their basic tutorial and eventually put skill points in the skills of their choosing. They will then set off on their adventure and complete quests for various people along the area. Usually, the player should focus on side missions more than main story missions, because of the fact of the leveling system. The game also has special chat options with NPCs. For example if the player gets their Speech skill high enough, they can unlock new chat options and gain experience for saying that option. Other than speech there are also very many things that can require your stats such as Lock-picking, Science, Medicine, Repair, Unarmed, and Barter. These will allow the player to get bonus experience and level up quicker. In Fallout New Vegas every level up will give you 14-15 skill points to put in your stats, and every even level (level 2,4,6,8) will grant you a new perk. These perk can range for carrying more weight, to giving you more skill points, to increase your accuracy with guns. Both Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas have in common is that they both have DLCs. Bethesda is concentrating more on Fallout New Vegas' DLCs because of the fact that only 2 are out so far. But these 2 are great, and so are Fallout 3's. Fallout New Vegas is also getting constant patches to fix the bugs and so that players can have a good time playing the game. I give Fallout 1 and 2 a 10/10. This is because they were made so long ago that I consider them old games but I do not want to make a completely different section for 2 games from the same series. The first 2 games were done very well and nothing could have been changed with them back then. Fallout 3 however, gets a 8.6/10 because of the fact of the various problems with the game. Fallout: New Vegas gets a 9/10 because of the fact that Bethesda tried to fix what they couldn't in the last game.
